15 Aug Get The Look: Megan McKenna
Megan McKenna has been stealing all of our hearts since her very first TOWIE appearance and of course… her super adorable relationship with fellow TOWIE co-star hunk, Pete Wicks.
She effortlessly looks put together every day; whether it’s on a night out with her girlfriends, a trip to the gym or even a dash across to the shops. It’s hard not to be ‘jel’ of her perfect brows and stunning cheekbones.
On a recent snapchat Megan posted, she is dolled up ready for a night out and her makeup looks like absolute perfection. Alongside an up-do with added voluminosity, Megan’s eyes are dark and sultry with a slightly red-toned cut crease, reflective highlight to her brow bone (underneath those impeccable brows of hers), fluffy eyelashes, perfectly chiseled cheekbones (to die for) and plumped up ready-to-kiss lips.
You can get the look too ready for Friday night out with the girls or Saturday’s dinner with your hunk. Even better, we’ll keep it strictly on a high street budget so you don’t have to abuse your debit card too much.
Base knows best… Keep it matte and light.
Unlike most TOWIE girls; Megan McKenna’s base makeup always looks very matte and flawless; without looking like she’s caked in 4 layers of foundation and concealer.
L’Oreal’s 24hour Matte Infalliable foundation is a fantastic and budget friendly matte foundation available in Superdrug and Boots for £7.99. It’s available in a few different shades; Porcelain 10 being the lightest which is great news for all us fairer ladies out there.
In this look, Megan’s concealer is used for any imperfectons plus to highlight her face. This is a great trick for dull and tired looking skin as you can look awake within seconds. Makeup Revolution’s Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette (light) is a fantastic option. At just £6, it features 8 different concealer shades which can be used for concealing imperfections; as well as highlighting dull areas on your face. This is also available in Medium and Dark which work well as cream contouring shades. Apply with a buffing brush or beauty blender sponge.
Achieve those perfect and well kept eyebrows with Freedom’s Eyebrow Pomade, £5 at Superdrug. Use an eyebrow spooley to comb and shape your brows and then simply use an angled brush and lightly apply the pomade to your brows. Start in the middle and draw the top and bottom lines of your brows; then fill in where needed. Finish with a clear mascara to set them and they’ll stay behaved and in place all day.
Now time to glam up those pretty eyes… Let’s get sultry and sexy…Makeup Revolution’s Flawless Eye Palette is a fantastic palette to have in your makeup collection as it has every shade you could possibly ever need for dark and sultry looks. Megan has gone for a dark and smokey eye look blended out with a slight red toned brown in her crease. All these shades are available in the Flawless Palette so at just £8; it’s a great palette to own.
Use a waterproof liquid eyeliner to avoid smudging from watery eyes and make sure to line your waterlines with a smokey black crayon eyeliner too. Finish off the look with some KISS Lashes and your eyes are ready to see the night away. Our particular favourites for this look are the KISS True Volume Spicy lashes which offer definition and volume; as well as that fluffy and flirty feel that Megan has in this look.
Get those cheekbones that we all wish we naturally had… (if you do – we are insanely jealous)… Sleek’s contour kit is so affordable at just £6.99 at Superdrug. It has a contour shade plus a highlight which is a great little kit to carry around with you in your handbag. The contour powder is matte and the highlight shade is silky and quickly illuminates the skin to give you a natural and stunning glow.
Apply the contour powder with an angled, fluffy brush to your cheekbones, lightly down the sides of your nose with a smaller angled, fluffy brush and across the temples of your forehead. You can also apply this down your neck and along the jawline if you are boasting a summer tan right now. Top tip: make your lips appear bigger by contouring a little underneath your bottom lip.
How much is too much highlight? (The answer is you can NEVER have too much highlight…)
Lightly apply the highlight across your forehead, down the centre of your nose, across the tops of you cheekbones, on the arch of your brow bone, above the cupid’s bow and finally a little on the chin. Have a look in the mirror and you should now look glowy, healthy and ready to take 101 stunning selfies.
In this particular look, Megan lines her lips using a light brown, almost natural looking lipliner. Her final lip look is left looking quite natural with a light pink colour added to the middle of the lips. MUA lip liners are a fantastic option to create this natural look as their lip liners are only £1 and come with a handy sharpener too. A particular great nude one is MUA’s lipliner in the shade Caramel Nougat.
You could even add some plumping lipgloss if you wanted the true Essex look. Try NYX’s Pump It Up Lip Plumpers which are now exclusively available at Boots for £6.50 each. The best shade for this look would be Angelina.
