27 Jun A Day at the Races – Royal Ascot with KISS
Royal Ascot is one of the biggest and most prestigious events on the British social calendar, and whilst some go for the sporting, every year we are more excited about the showstopping fashion. On Friday 21st June, the event we’d been looking forward to for months had finally arrived, and we took some beauty bloggers out for a Day at the Races with our lovely client KISS, kicking off the summer in style!
A day like Ascot requires plenty of planning and prep, so we made sure all our guests would be ready for the big day by gifting them a range of KISS nails and lashes, along with custom KISS mirrors and chargers so we could capture plenty of pics throughout the day. Plus, we also sent them each tailored hats by George Durdy, stylish glasses holders by Le Kevin, an Ascot cooling spray, gorgeous rings from Pandora, as well as numerous shoe accessories and a pair of binoculars to catch all the action. The flats were definitely a good idea as walking around in our heels all day was not going to be easy!
Some of our guests decided to get ready at the office with us in the morning, so put we on breakfast for everyone and made sure there was plenty of caffeine as it was super early. There were glam stations manned by professional techs to apply our KISS nails and lashes, and all the girls found a style to perfectly complement their outfit- which wasn’t hard considering the range from KISS. We even managed to rope in our dear friend and client @Leighton_Denny to lend a hand with the prep. Girls were doing hair, adjusting outfits, and applying finishing touches to their makeup, with all the excitement you’d think we were off to a wedding!
And we’re off to the races!
Once the final lash was applied and our nails were dry, we made our way to our ride for the morning. We were picked up in a white Baby Bentley Limo, and enjoyed the long, luxurious ride to the Berkshire racecourse. Cups of coffee were quickly switched for bottles of bubbly and we enthusiastically exchanged our top tips for the day. Stepping out of the limo at the Ascot gates had us all feeling like movie stars.
Our favourite thing about Royal Ascot is you can never be overdressed and as a group we were all dressed to the nines. Everyone looked stunning (despite the strict dress code) and we waltzed inside the Royal Enclosure, accompanied by a dapper-looking gentleman. The bespoke hats made for our guests by the incredible milliner George Durdy really topped off our outfits and made sure we stood out for all the right reasons.
Lunch was a sit-down affair at the Balmoral Restaurant, where we were greeted with glasses of champagne. Our table had spectacular views of the track and created the perfect backdrop to enjoy the delicious food. After dining we watched the Royal Procession, managing to catch a glimpse of the Queen and the royal family as they passed us by in horse-drawn carriages.
The race is on…
As soon as the races began we all got into the spirit of the day by bravely betting on our favourites. Our viewing deck was right by the finish line so there was a lot of anticipation, but competition remained friendly among the group. Some of us may have walked away with slightly lighter purses but our biggest winner of the day won £1000!
After enjoying a beautiful day in the sun with friends old and new, we hopped in a Porsche to the Ascot helipad, so we could escape the traffic back to London. Flying over the city was the perfect end to a remarkable day which won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Thanks again to everyone involved and we hope to see you all soon.
